The size of the band
More musicians means more cost. A tight four piece is the most affordable way to get a real live band. A larger seven piece with brass and extra vocals is a bigger production, priced accordingly.
Travel and your venue
Most Irish wedding bands are based in or near the cities and travel out. A venue a few hours away, or one that needs an overnight stay, adds travel cost. A good band folds this into the quote upfront rather than springing it on you later.
Your date and the day of the week
Summer Saturdays and bank holiday weekends are in the highest demand, so they sit at the top of the range and book out first. A midweek or off-season date can be noticeably better value.
Extras across the day
Ceremony music, a drinks reception set and a DJ to run the late party each add to the total. Booking the full day with one supplier is usually better value than piecing it together from several.
Sound, lighting and the professional bits
A proper PA, stage lighting, public liability insurance and sometimes VAT are all part of a real quote. A price that looks suspiciously low has often left some of these out, so it pays to check what is actually included.
